Poroma Banerjee graduated from Calcutta University, Department of Law, India (BA.LLB). Thereafter, she qualified as an Attorney at law and is registered with the Bar Council of India. She acquired a strong perspective of international intellectual property law and Indian procedural law during her five years of undergraduate program which included series of internships with the top law firms of India. Recently, she has been honored with the membership of International Council of Jurists, London.
From 2012 to 2015, she worked as a trademark attorney with one of the veteran intellectual property law firms of India. There she maintained an unbroken record of successful registration of trademarks of various international clients. She was felicitated annually as the best attorney in the trade marks department. Her key responsibilities included drafting of consent letters/worldwide co-existence agreements, deeds of assignment, declarations and affidavits of use, classification of goods/services according to the Nice Classification, responses to first Office Actions, prosecution hearings, recordal requests, amendment petitions and litigation.
In 2017, prior to joining BEST Rechtsanwälte, she worked as a legal assistant in the trade marks department of a global bio-therapeutics company. In the intermediate period of her association with the Indian legal industry and global pharmaceutical industry, she acquired her post-graduation degree in Intellectual Property and Competition Law from Munich Intellectual Property Law center at the Max Planck Society. Her master thesis was on the international obligation of the Government of India and the hierarchy of dispute mechanism available in India. Besides, trade mark law and practice, IP licensing and copyright law, she chose IP and Arbitration as her electives. Consequently, she acquired excellent knowledge of the international dispute mechanism of domain names as well.
